Well, I remember you told me once that you would never ever buy another used Japanese bike, but it sure sounds like you didn't go "American Made" with this one. Since you stated that the brake pads probably need replacing, I figure it's used. Also, Honda parts are pretty easy to come by, so "easier on parts" leans me that way. "Power, doesn't shake (at all)", and "covered caliper" could be a "crotch rocket", but they usually don't have "better seat, higher level of fit and finish", plus the "Memphis Shades slims" thing rules out a "crotch rocket". So, I'm thinking it's a Honda Magna. They have the better gears (they have six of them, if I recall), the better roll on power (like a Yamaha V-Max), and the V-4 engine in my '84 Honda Sabre is the same engine design they used in the Magna, just at a slightly different angle, and it doesn't vibrate at all. So, there you go, my final choice based on my understanding of what you stated, is a Honda Magna.
